Dire straits

I drew a robot a few days back with these kind of metal-ribbon arms.  I liked how it turned out, and have been wanting to expand on that idea some more.  Also, I’ve been wanting a flying robot that has bird-like qualities.  Specifically, the kind of metal segments you see on wings in the planes of Ghost in the Shell, where they can’t possibly serve a purpose, and actually look like they might hinder powered-flight, but look cool as hell.  I like how it all came out in this preliminary design.  I still want to tweak some of his qualities, but if you like this one make sure to check back in the near future, as I plan to color this one for sure.  I call him “Dire”.
